Whereas the Asus board was faster at handling many small files, the Gigabyte performance is consistently better, whether using the Seagate or Western Digital drive with larger ISO files using the SATA 6Gbps chipset. Despite still running at SATA 3Gbps though, file creation is considerably better with the Western Digital drive, although file copy is better with Seagate on its native SATA 6Gbps. Overall, it's horses for courses.

Back on a uniform P55 SATA 3Gbps, and compared to the results above we can see the Seagate at 6Gbps doesn't perform considerably faster again. Only the copy performance pushes it to around 11 seconds, but the Western Digital here is only fractionally slower on average.
Overall the Seagate on SATA 3Gbps is slightly slower than the Western Digital, but it's hardly by a large margin.
